Our Program

About Our Program

Coastal Learning Center Atlantic offers education and therapeutic services to students ages 5 - 21 with social, emotional and behavioral disabilities. Students that attend our school have access to a quality education taught by highly qualified teachers. Our services include: vocational training both at school and in community settings, individual and group counseling, crisis counseling, psychiatric services and medication management, nursing services, speech, OT, and PT.

Our Integrated Counseling Program includes LCSW and MSW Counselors. The Counseling Program covers an array of issues that include anger management, social skills, grief and loss, low self-esteem, assertiveness training, and substance abuse. These issues are addressed through the Behavior Management System, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and Individual and Group Counseling.

Our students are educated in classrooms with a maximum of 12 students to keep a low student to staff ratio. Each class is staffed by a highly qualified teacher and a teacher aide. Our academics are in line with the NJ State Core Curriculum and our special education teachers accommodate the individual needs of the student based on their Individual Education Plan. Classes include Language Arts, Math, Science, History, Health, PE, Drivers Education, Technology, Financial Literacy, Art, Intro to Vocations, and World Language. All state mandated testing is administered on site. The Parent Portal and phone contact by counselors and teachers communicates the student’s development to parents and guardians.

Coastal Learning Center’s goals are to facilitate the student’s return to public school, provide an education and skills for students to enter workforce or college and prepare the student for life after graduation. Our primary focus is for students to acquire the skills necessary for a useful, productive, and stable life.
